William Francis Brosnan
1964 - 2017
BRUNSWICK - William Francis Brosnan, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 30, 2017. Uncle Mister Bill (UMB, Bill) was an avid sports fan, loved the color orange, and always had some type of camera or electronic device at his fingertips. He was the happiest when he was spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He was born Dec. 31, 1964, in Chelsea, Mass., the son of James J. Brosnan and Barbara (Hoganson) Brosnan.
He was a 1982 graduate of Brunswick High School, where he played baseball. In 1987, he graduated from University of Maine at Orono with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Bill was a subject matter expert on vibration, acoustics, and electrical/ fiber optic pressure proof connectors. He worked in the ship silencing and special projects branch in electrical engineering division at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he recently received recognition for 30 years of service.
Bill had a passion for travel. He escorted family and friends on various trips across country and abroad. His favorite places to visit were Ireland, Scotland, the Canadian Rockies, and Alaska. St. Louis held a special place: home of his beloved Cardinals.
He loved 1980s music, Hawaiian print shirts, cooking and being the life of the party. Quick to give a witty comment or recall an old movie line, Bill was sure to make you laugh.
Bill spent a lot of time in the Skowhegan area attending activities of his nieces.
He is survived by his siblings, James "Jay" R. Brosnan, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Jo Ann Brosnan, of Winterhaven, Fla.; Barbara B. Welch, of Skowhegan; Nancy J. Brosnan, of Winterhaven, Fla.; and Patrick M. Brosnan, of Tewksbury, Mass.; his nephews, Sean Brosnan, of Panama City, Fla.; Justin Woodward, of Abilene, Texas; and Nick Woodward, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; his nieces, Cortney Brosnan, of Charleston, S.C.; Lydia Welch, of Smithfield; Caitlin Brosnan, of Tewksbury, Mass.; and Kylie Welch, of Skowhegan.
