Theresa Martha Clark
1937 - 2018
MT. VERNON - Theresa Martha Clark, 81, died in Augusta, July 29, 2018, while battling Alzheimer's disease.
Theresa, daughter of Lewis and Jeannette Cyr, was born July 7, 1937 in Waterbury, Conn. One of nine children, Theresa grew up in Millinocket, helping to care for her younger siblings. She graduated from Stearns High School.
She worked throughout her life to support her family, holding various positions until settling in Winthrop and working at Hannaford in Augusta where she retired in 1992.
In 1982, Theresa married the love of her life, Bill Clark. They built their home in Mt. Vernon themselves. During their life together she enjoyed many hobbies, some even leading to employment. She loved to sew, knit and crochet. Many blankets and pillows she created are on her children's bed even still. This skill led her to participate in craft fairs throughout the years. She was a terrific cook and talented cake decorator. She made her daughter's wedding cake. Theresa and Bill loved to bowl and participated in numerous leagues. Traveling to Florida was a joy for her. Wintering there became something she looked forward to every year, including her weekly Pokeno games with friends. She could often be found with a cup of coffee and a book in her hand. She was an avid reader. In later years, Theresa enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and watching the birds out her windows.
Theresa is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Clark, of Mt. Vernon; her sisters, Lois Redman and partner, Bob Emerson, of New York, Irene Bears and her husband, Harry, of New York, Linda Makin of Lincoln, Nancy Noyes and her husband, Ben, of Gray, and Debbie Randall and her husband, Tom, of Gardiner; a brother, Leo Cyr and his wife, Penny, of South Carolina and their extended families; her sons, Greg and his wife, Dawn Costello, of Winthrop, and Frank Clark and his wife, Patty, of Montana; daughters Karen and husband, Paul Criss, and their daughter, Hannah, of Wayne, Diana Frith of Hallowell, and Cheryl Clark of Augusta; with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
