Stanley W. Foye
1941 - 2018
PITTSTON - Stanley W. Foye, 76, of Blinn Hill Road, died unexpectedly at his home on July 20, 2018. He was born in Damariscotta on Nov. 26, 1941, the son of Maurice P. Foye and Doris L. (Pooler) Foye.
He grew up in Wiscasset playing baseball, basketball and running track as well as developing a love for the outdoors and hunting and fishing. Stan especially loved baseball, he would play, coach and umpire during his lifetime. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan who was surprised and excited that they won 2 World Series Championships recently. He graduated from Wiscasset High School and the University of Maine with a Bachelor's degree in Education.
He was employed as a teacher and coach at Whitefield School and Gardiner Junior High School for many years. He also worked for many years in the hunting and fishing departments at L.L. Bean in Freeport.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Ruffed Grouse Society and a founding member of the DMC of Pittston. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sitting around a campfire and sharing stories or watching the Bruins, Celtics or the New York Giants. He also loved to hunt and fish. He was especially proud to be a fly fisherman and grouse hunter. He spent many hours fishing for Atlantic Salmon in Maine and Canada. And many years training dogs for grouse hunting. He trained Brittany Spaniels and later English Setters. He also enjoyed playing pickleball, especially with his friends at the Wiscasset Community Center.
Stan was predeceased by his parents; by a sister Barbara Rice, and three brothers Parker Foye, Maurice A. Foye and Clayton Foye.
Surviving is a daughter Beth Foye of Pittston, two sons Matthew Foye of Pittston and Chad Foye and his wife Kathryn of Chelsea; two grandchildren Meghan Foye and Nathan Foye both of Chelsea; a sister, Lois Foye of Wiscasset; his friend and ex-wife Theresa Chadwick Foye of Pittston; several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws; and his two English Setters Maizie and Dixie.
There are no planned visiting hours. A Celebration of Stan's Life will be held on Sept. 1, 3:00 p.m., at the Pittston Fairgrounds in Pittston.
