BOWDOIN - Stanley F. Webb, 77, a resident of Bowdoin, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at his home with his family by his side, following a long illness. He was born June 29, 1940, in Manchester, the son of Frank S. Webb and Doris (Waugh) Webb.
He attended school at Manchester Elementary and was a 1958 graduate of Cony High School in Augusta. He graduated from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute with studies in electrical. Stanley served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga., as an artillery surveyor.
On August 12, 1967, in Richmond, he married his wife of 50 years, Marilyn A. Yates. Stanley worked 43 years at Bath Iron Works in electronics and radar controls, also new construction and was an engineering draftsman, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Industrial Union of Marine and Shipbuilding Workers of America Local #6.
Stanley was an avid Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics fan. For several years, Stanley coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball for the Town of Bowdoin. He enjoyed carpentry, cutting hay, and cutting the wood used for both of the barns he built and firewood to heat the family home. He loved horses and wildlife around his home, he also enjoyed hunting, working with his Farmall Tractors, repairing vehicles and farm equipment.
He was very proud of his children and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. Stanley and Marilyn traveled to Hawaii and drove their RV to Alaska and California.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Webb of Bowdoin; his sons, Stanley Webb and wife Amie of Falmouth, Mass. and Thomas Webb of Shelton, Conn., his daughter, Dawn Bellonzi and husband Mike of Hollis; sisters, Louise Wood and husband Jim of Sabattus, Marion Tourtelotte of Manchester, and Susan Maxim of Augusta, brothers, Bradford Webb of Mount Vernon, Clyde Webb and wife Sylvia, Walter Webb and Charles Webb and wife Elaine all of Manchester; six grandsons, Aidan and Liam Webb, Sean, Brian, Paul and Evan Bellonzi. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Curtis.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, at BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main St., Monmouth. Visitation will be held from 12 - 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment with military honors in the spring at Litchfield Plains Cemetery, Plains Road, Litchfield. Messages of condolence may be sent to:
