Friends and family called him by the name Popeye "Pop". He inherited this name in his younger days when he enjoyed the sport of boxing. He shared this sport with his only child, Robert Quirion Jr. who continued this sport throughout the years and also shared the nickname Popeye.

His son Robert Quirion Jr. and his wife Kristi Quirion of Cornville and their two children Amber and Brody Quirion. His Brother Paul Quirion and wife Janet Quirion of Oakland as well as a sister Pauline Mullen from Oakland.
