AUGUSTA - Rita B. Alley passed away at Inland Hospital, Dec. 5, 2018. She was born June 9, 1931 in Orlando, Fla., and was the oldest child of William S. and Ethel E. Emery. She was raised in the Gardiner-Farmingdale area, graduating from Gardiner High School in the class of 1948, and worked for New England Telegraph and Telephone, after graduation.

After living in D.C. she returned to Maine and lived in the Gardiner-Randolph area. She worked for Laverdiere's Drug, Rite Aid and lastly, at Goggins IGA in Randolph. In 2009 she moved to the Margaret Chase Smith House in Augusta where she resided, until her death.

Rita was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Robert Emery, of Randolph, and brother-in-law, Arthur Hall, of Augusta. She is survived by sons, Bill Alley, of Texas and Rick Alley, (Karen) and grandsons, Christian and Connor Alley of Oakland; sisters, Reba Hall of Augusta, Dorothy Emery, (Ken Colomy) of Manchester, and sister-in-law, Mary Emery of Randolph; many nieces and nephews throughout Maine, and their families.

Living in Randolph, Rita was someone all the neighborhood kids loved to talk to, and no matter where she went, someone always recognized her. Per Rita's request, there will be no services.
