AUGUSTA - Richard E. Albair, 69, of Augusta, passed through Heaven's Gates Friday Dec. 7, 2018 at the MaineGeneral Medical Center, Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

He was born in Dover-Foxcroft Nov. 8, 1949, the son of Merton and Ruth (Turner) Albair. He grew up in Chelsea and joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17. After his service in the Army, he returned to the Augusta area and worked for many years in the flooring business. When he wasn't working, Richard enjoyed hunting, camping, making people laugh and fishing. He was a member of the Augusta Eagles Club.

Richard is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Libby) Albair; his sons, Jeremiah Albair and his fiancé, Maghen Merritt, of South Bristol and Shannon Albair and his fiance, Sheresa Stover, of Windsor, his daughters, Kim McGruder, of Augusta and Sarah McGruder-Coutu, of Rhode Island; and his grandchildren, Troy Rand, Angel Edwards, Terry Grennen, Caleb Kimmelman, Jacob Farrington, and Aiden Vinal.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles Club Banquet Room, 71 Water Street in Augusta, Saturday December 15, from 6-9 p.m.
