ALBION - Pearl Maxine Haskell Hamilton, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta from complications from a fall. She was born in Benton on Jan. 16, 1926, the eldest daughter of the late Wellman and Lucy Fuller Haskell.
Pearl graduated from Besse High School in Albion, was a member of the Shawmut Chapel and Branch Mills Grange. She worked for 26 years at the Hinckley Post Office, twelve of them as Postmaster, retiring in 1992.
Over the years, Pearl enjoyed gardening, canning and pickling. During the summer she liked to travel to the coast with family and friends for lobster dinners. And in recent years, she most enjoyed her rides "around the block."
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Clayton Haskell, Jack Haskell, Joe Haskell, Billy Haskell; and sister, Peggy Jones.
She is survived by her sons, Sonny Hamilton and wife, Jane, of Albion, and David Hamilton and his wife, Mickey, also of Albion; her brother, Stephen Haskell and his partner, Donna Doolan; and sister, Rosalie Rood; grandchildren, Rachel Crommett, Matthew Hamilton, Mark Hamilton, Chad Hamilton, Jason Hamilton, Holli Merry and Molli Rainey; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Preston and Debbie Hutchins for their many years of excellent care. Also thanks to the staff in the CCU unit at MaineGeneral Hospital for their compassion and kindness. Also great thanks to all friends and family who took the time to drive Pearl to appointments and run errands, drop off food, or just called to check in; there are too many to list as Pearl was loved by all.
At Pearl's request, there will be a family graveside service on Sunday, June 24 at 11:30 a.m., at Number Four Cemetery in Albion with Pastor Steve Donahue officiating. At 12:30 p.m., there will be a luncheon for family and friends to share memories at the home of Sonny and Jane, 250 Benton Road, Albion. Memories and condolences may be shared at
