AUGUSTA - Patricia A. Blethen, 84, of Augusta, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Augusta. She was born Feb. 23, 1934, in Augusta, the daughter of George and Maude Rogers Skonberg.

She attended Gardiner elementary, junior and high schools. She married Walter Nixon on Nov. 2, 1951, and together, they raised a family, having five children. On Nov. 20, 1971, she married Paul Blethen and he passed away on Jan. 3, 2011.

Patty worked at several area grocery stores and later, was a waitress for a number of local restaurants. She was still enjoying working for Maxims One Hour Martenizing Dry Cleaners, until the time of her death.

She enjoyed playing cards, embroidering, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. She frequently traveled and even parasailed well into her 70s, and beyond.

She is survived by five children, Deborah Champagne, of Vassalboro, Donna Nixon (Jill), of Gulfport, Fls., David Nixon (Tina), of Winthrop, Brenda Whitney (Peter), of Augusta, and Bradley Nixon (Wanda), of Windsor; stepchildren, Linda Smith (Allen), and Vicki Crommett (Craig); sister, Bette Seymour (Alfred), of Randolph; previous husband, Walter Nixon, of Florida; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by her many childhood friends, including Doris "Winkie" Casey.

She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Paul Blethen; son-in-law, Butch Champagne; niece, Pamela Lowery; and great-grandchild, Kiersten Fiandaca.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, Jan. 11 from 2 p.m to 5 p.m. at the American Legion, Post 2, 294 Capitol, St., Augusta.
