AUGUSTA - Mona Therese Alexander of Belgrade lost her long battle with cancer Friday, Nov. 30, 2018. Mona was born Nov. 9, 1960 in Lewiston, daughter of Jacqueline Abbott. She graduated from Lewiston High School, class of 1979. After high school Mona worked various jobs before finding her calling at Geiger in Lewiston. Mona excelled at Geiger and won various awards for her work ethic and experience. She was able to work there for 29 years before her disease hindered her ability to work and forced her to retire. Mona loved her work community and will always love and be loved within her work family. Outside of work Mona loved the ocean especially being able to walk along the beach. Her favorite thing was being around her friends and family. She  enjoyed all the family get togethers and parties. Mona was the rock of the family, willing to help everyone with anything. Mona also enjoyed Maine Harness Racing with her husband Kevin. They owned and raced several horses throughout the years and had many friends related to that industry.She is survived by her husband Kevin, his son Scott and his son Grayson. sister Tina,husband Mike their children Brittany, her daughter Aubrey, Aaron and Connor. Brother Larry, wife Ann their children Iris and Will. sister-in-aw Jackie, husband Chuck, niece Angela,husband Joe and daughters Sierra and Addie and nephew Brad. Her brother-in-law Ron, wife Kathy,along with her nephew Nate.As her time grew shorter the nurses and doctors thought she only had a day maybe two left, but she decided she'd go out on her own terms. She fought for five more days, surprising the nurses and doctors. No one was going to tell her how it was going to end, that's what we lovedmost about her.A celebration of life will be held at the Best Western in Waterville on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018 from 12-4 p.m.In lieu of flowers,donations can bemade to the:Barbara BushChildren's Hospital.While she was going through treatment inBoston, Mona always felt strongly about the children who were going through the same thing she was and couldn't bear the thought of them suffering.
