Mary K. (McDougal) Burrell
1924 - 2018
BREWER - Mary K. (McDougal) Burrell, 93, formerly of Palmyra, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 14, 2018, in Brewer.
Mary was born on August 6, 1924, in Benton, the daughter of Ernest and Valti (Ward) McDougal. She graduated from Hartland Academy with the class of 1941 and married Malcolm "Mickey" Burrell on December 5, 1947. They raised five sons and shared 62 years of marriage.
She had worked for Baxter Canning Company, Dexter Shoe, the Edwards Company and for Topper Badger Trucking.
One of Mary's enjoyments was going out to eat and trying new restaurants. She loved to go around up country with her husband and loved ones. She loved family reunions and going to yard sales. Many times you would find her at home sitting in her rocking chair reading her Bible. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Hartland First Baptist Church. She played both the piano and organ faithfully there for over 40 years.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Burrell of Newport, Reagan Burrell and Sandra of Palmyra, Brian Burrell of Newport, and daughter-in-law Cindy Burrell of Palmyra; grandchildren, Heather, Shawna, Todd, Jessica, Danny, Vance, Anthony and Felicia; great-grandchildren, Cayla, Nicholas, Morgan, Victoria, Patrick, Thomas, Nicole and Xander; brother-in-law Wendell Bubar of St. Albans, sisters-in-law Charlotte McDougal and Connie McDougal; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Malcolm "Mickey" Burrell; sons, Sherwood Burrell and Malcolm Burrell; daughters-in-law Patty Burrell and Laurel Ann Stewart-Burrell; siblings, Donald, Cyrus, Warren, Ernest Jr., Willis, Luther, Evelyn, Valti, Louise and Marjorie.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Hartland First Baptist Church, 10 Elm St. in Hartland with the Rev. Norman Finnemore officiating. A committal will immediately follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152 in Hartland. All are welcome to return to the church fellowship hall for a time of gathering after the committal.
