Martha Clark Farnham 1939 – 2018 SIDNEY – Martha Clark Farnham, 79, of Sidney passed away on Dec. 3, 2018, at home with family by her side. Martha was born in Portland, on July 19, 1939, to John T. and Lucille (Stobie) Clark. The family traveled through the U.S. as Martha's father served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy. At age 5, Martha settled in Waterville and attended school there. Martha graduated in 1957 from Williams High School in Oakland. While in high school, she met her husband Donald (Don). After high school, Martha worked for Depositors Trust and later at Federal Trust. Martha was married to her husband Don in 1958 and they had three children. Martha and Don first settled in Oakland, then a few years later in Sidney where Donald was fire chief for many years. Martha became a homemaker after the birth of their first child. As foster parents for over 28 years, they cared for more than 100 children. Martha also did childcare in her home for infants and toddlers. Martha and Don were a large part of their grandchildren's lives. Martha loved animals and children, both with a great passion. Martha raced at Unity Raceway in the Powder Puff derbies, owned and rode horses, and tried to help every child or animal she came in contact with. Martha was predeceased by her husband in 2016; her mother in 1992, her father in 1949; a sister, Elizabeth (Betty Bonney) Carter in 1994 and a brother George (Joe) Bonney in 2018. Martha is survived by two daughters, Donna C. Farnham, Darlene F. Sproul and her husband Joe Sproul, her son, Jonathan C. Farnham and his wife, Martha J. Farnham. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Amanda Dugal, Kymberlee Leighton, Jonathan Farnham, and Justin Farnham. Survivors also include three very special foster children Dan Brochu, Charlene King, Sherri Boudreau-Webb and their families. Martha is also survived by two sisters, Virginia (Ginny) Blanchard of Arizona and Deborah (Debbie) Norman of Florida. Martha leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of Martha's life will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. at Faith Church, 250 Kennedy Memorial Drive, Waterville. A reception will immediately follow.
