Lorraine A. Conant
1926 - 2017
AUGUSTA - Lorraine Angelina Conant of Augusta passed away on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. Lorraine was born in Lewiston, a daughter of the late Edward F. Woodhead and Angelina (Boutelle) Woodhead.
After graduating from Lewiston High School, Lorraine worked for Bostonian Shoe Company where she met Richard (Dick) Conant of Turner and later married on July 1, 1950. Lorraine was a homemaker first in Lewiston and then in Gardiner for many years. They spent winters in Naples, Fla. where Lorraine enjoyed walking on the beach and swimming in the warm pools. Upon Dick's retirement, they returned to Maine settling in Winthrop. Lorraine moved to Augusta on Parkwood Drive after Dicks passing where she lived independently.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard; sister Evelyn Levasseur, her four brothers, Howard, Francis, Edward and Richard Woodhead; and her parents.
Lorraine will be dearly missed by her daughters Sally Hanley and husband Jeffery of Pittston, Elaine Hockridge and husband Brian of Eden, Utah, and Carol Gay and husband Timothy of Pittston; her six grandchildren Jana Christman, Abraham Hanley, Emily Clark, Jeffery Hanley, Eric Hockridge and Ryan Gay; and with her nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be on Nov. 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Gardiner.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of Staples Funeral Home, Gardiner.
