PALMYRA - Katrina Faye Adams (Abbott) Hutchinson passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 95 and returned to that God who gave her life on Mother's Day at her home in Palmyra.

In May 1939, at age 17, she married Beecher Tardy whom she had known since childhood. However, their love and union was cut short when Beecher died suddenly of a heart attack at age 30 in Oct. 1946, leaving her a young widow.
In August 1947, she married Merton L. Abbott of Winslow. They lived in Pittsfield where they owned and operated a poultry farm for many years. Later they moved to Newport where Merton retired. She worked alongside her husband, Merton, for many years on the family poultry farm and then spent 20 years working in the cafeteria at Vickery School until she finally retired at age 73. She enjoyed the camaraderie with her co-workers and especially loved serving the
They were blessed with three children, Linda, Janet and Ricki. Merton and Katrina had just over 50 years together before Merton succumbed to lung cancer in Jan. 1998.
On Oct. 3, 2003, at age 81, she married Philip K. Hutchinson and moved to Dixmont. where she spent the next 12 years prior to moving to Palmyra to be cared for by her daughter, Linda. Philip passed away on Sept. 4, 2016.
Katrina was devoted to family and friends and particularly was a dedicated wife and mother. She was known for her kindly nature and her great sense of humor and was loved by all who knew her. She developed a great work ethic from a young age that served her well throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, her sisters Glenna Bragg and Nola Doody; and most recently her daughter, Janet L. Stoddard. She is survived by her two remaining children, Linda F. Morgan of Palmyra, and Ricki A. Abbott of Dexter; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; plus many nieces and nephews.
We invite all to join with her family in paying tribute to her life at a service on Friday, May 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. to be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 59 Libby Hill Rd. in Newport. There will also be a viewing held prior to the service from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Relief Society room of the church. Interment will follow the service at the Village Cemetery Pittsfield.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all those who have loved and served her in any way.
