June Elizabeth Clukey
1926 - 2018

WATERVILLE - It is with great sadness that the family of June Elizabeth Clukey announces her passing on June 2, 2018, at Lakewood Continuing Care, at the age of 92 years.

June was born in Springfield, Mass., to the late Stanley and Mary Wells. She grew up in Clinton where she graduated valedictorian of her class in 1943.

She was married to Robert Clukey in 1944. They were married 44 years before his passing in 1999.

Before becoming longtime residents of Waterville, they resided in Wiscasset, where they operated Bob & June's Lunch.
After their final move to Waterville, June worked for over 30 years at the former Keyes Fibre Company (now Huhtamaki) before retiring in 1986 at the age of 60. While at Keyes she was well respected by those who worked with her and knew her.

After her retirement she and Bob bought an RV and made their way to Florida, where they made good friends while escaping the Maine winters. They were "snowbirds" for several years.

She was a Gold Star mother having lost a son, Robert Jr. (Butch), in Vietnam in 1967. June was also predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and Donald Wells.

June is survived by two children, Roberta Holt and Gregory Clukey; four grandchildren: Richard and Randal Holt, Jillian and Ryan Clukey; as well as two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Danielle Holt.

A simple graveside service will be held at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville on Saturday, June 9, at 11 a.m.

A special thanks to the staff at Lakewood Care and Hospice, especially Julie, for their sincere and thoughtful caring during June's last days.
