Jarrica Helena Gomes
1990 - 2015
SKOWHEGAN - Jarrica Helena Gomes, affectionately known as Auntie Jarrica to some, was born on Oct. 15, 1990, in Bangor, to Holly Humphrey and Manuel Gomes. Altogether too soon, her life ended tragically as the result of an automobile accident on Aug. 11, 2015.
With a real zest for life and a passion for adventure, Jarrica enjoyed boating, tubing with the girls, going to the beach, four-wheeling, and other activities in the great outdoors. She loved being with her friends and did not know a stranger. Jarrica was friendly, outgoing, and charismatic; people were drawn to her and her big heart. She was one who made time for her friends, supported them in difficult times, celebrated with them in good times, and she leaves behind many friends whom she cherished and loved.
Jarrica graduated from Skowhegan High School in 2012. She worked at Integrated Sales Solution in Fairfield as a customer service representative. Jarrica was proud of her work and loved being independent. It was no surprise that her work also included helping and serving people. She was very generous.
Outside of work, Jarrica enjoyed getting together with her friends, and she loved children. She would spend hours playing with her friends' children and she beamed when she could make them smile or when they would call her Auntie Jarrica. Her love for children began with her own brothers and sister who she protected and watched over like a mother hen. She would remind her mother that she actually helped raise them.
Jarrica was outspoken and real; she said what she thought. One never had to wonder where you stood with her. Of course, you might not find out right away if you tried to reach her on her cell phone. Jarrica had a knack for breaking cell phones. Thankfully, her army of friends loved her so much they would keep supplying her with a new one in order to stay in touch.
Jarrica is survived by her mother, Holly Humphrey; her sister, Brittany Gomes, her brothers, Ryan Gomes and Trent Gunst; her nephew, EJ Gomes; and her paternal grandfather, Casimiro Gomes. Jarrica was predeceased by her father, Manuel Gomes. She will be forever missed by her loving and very special aunties, many amazing cousins, and by Michael McGowan and his daughters, Jocelynn Rain and McKay Pearl McGowan.
