Gloria Rae (Whipple) Pratt
1938 - 2016
MOSCOW - Gloria R. Pratt, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, surrounded by her family. Gloria was born on May 21, 1938, in Starks, to Charles E. Jr. and Marion A. (Taylor) Whipple.
On Dec. 3, 1956, Gloria married Mardel D. Pratt. She and her husband lived in the Bingham/Moscow area where they raised their family. She had worked at Quimby Veneer Mill in Bingham and also had worked as a cook and housekeeper. Gloria was most proud of her work as an alcohol councilor through the local health center.
Her greatest pleasure in life was being with family and friends. She always had several of her children around her.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Mardel D. "Puddles" Pratt; an infant daughter, Jean Marie Pratt; a brother, Richard Whipple; and a sister, Madeline Price.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Allen and her husband Timothy of Cedar Kay, Fla., Stephen Pratt and his wife Virginia of Cedar Key, Fla., Lisa Giguere and her husband Steven of Canaan, Daniel Pratt and his wife Michelle of Bingham, and Michael Pratt and his wife Betty of Moscow; her grandchildren, Emily Katz and her husband Matt, Samuel Smith and his fiancé Chelsea Spaulding, Lesley Smith and her fiancé Mitchell Metott, Brandon Pratt and his wife Ella, Heather Pratt and her fiancé Brandon Hagopian, Benjamin Pratt, Zachary Giguere, Zane Giguere, Alex Pratt and Jessica Pratt; her great-grandchildren, Daniel, Austin, Travis, Cassandra, Carrissa, Layla, Noah and Lance; her sisters, Dorothy Wing, Beverly Arsenault, Carolyn Hewitt, Geradine Hackett and Virginia Glazier; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held later in the spring at the Union Cemetery in Moscow. The date and time will be announced. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, 18 River St. in Bingham.
