1930 - 2016
READFIELD - Geraldine E. "Midgie" Potter, 86, of Old Kents Hill Road, died Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, surrounded by her loving family after a very blessed life.
She was born in Readfield on July 12, 1930, the daughter of Albion and Annie (King) Bryant.
Geraldine was educated in Readfield area schools. She was a homemaker for most of her life and a baby sitter for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She spent many hours outdoors playing games and watching over them. Midgie enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, cooking, canning, decorating wedding cakes and making her traditional Halloween molasses corn balls. She was also known as the "family therapist". Geraldine was a member of the Golden Guys and Girls Senior Citizens of Readfield.
She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Albion Bryant Jr., Leon Bryant Sr. and his twin brother Linwood Bryant, a sister Gladys Libby; and a son-in-law Richard "Dick" Lippert in 2015.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Lorin "Buster" Potter of Readfield; two daughters, Verneice "Vernie" Lippert of Oakland, and Belinda Burke and her husband Michael "Mike" of Readfield, a son Joseph "Joe" Potter and his wife Angela "Angie" of Readfield; a sister Gloria Clark of Readfield, three brothers Robert Bryant and his wife Dottie of Readfield, Ronald Bryant of Tennessee, and Kenneth Bryant and his wife Mary of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Wade and his wife Heather, Kristy and her husband Jim, Sara and her husband Nick, Jake, Maggie and her husband Rory, Shelby and Jolene; eight great-grandchildren; great-granddog Sophie; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, at the Readfield Corner Cemetery, Church Road, Readfield. A celebration of her life will be held at her home immediately following the service. All are invited to attend.
