WOODSTOCK - Frederick D. Rogers (Rick Jolly Rogers), 66, of 492 Gore Rd. Woodstock, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday July 29, 2018, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He leaves behind his best friend and love of his life, Darlene Rogers; his two adoring grandchildren, Jozlyn Mae and Lyana Jane, that he was raising with his wife after the loss of their daughter Jennell. He also leaves his loving mother Faylene Rogers and her partner Roger of Fryeburg; his brother Dale Rogers of Cannan, his sister Delight and her husband Tom Mroz from North Carolina; his stepchildren Robert Pilgrim of Boston, Mass., William Pilgrim and his partner Hannah Chapman of Bethel, Jordan Pilgrim-Hanson and his fiancée' Kenzie of Rumford; his biological son Ian Rogers of New York; and his grandchildren Xander, Jozlyn, Lyana and baby on the way Olivia. Rick also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Rick was predeceased by his stepdaughter Jennell Robinson; his father Dwight Rogers; and his two younger brothers Paul and Butchie Rogers.
Rick was born in North Conway, N.H. on Feb 16, 1952. His family moved to Twin Mountain, N.H. when he was a child and then Rocky Hill Conn. where at the age of 7 he started working on a dairy farm milking cows and delivering milk. Rick would spend his summers in Bartlett, N.H. with his grandparents who he went to live with as a teenager. Rick played football and soccer for Kenneth High School where he graduated in 1970. After High School Rick studied small engine repair. He worked at a garage while earning his Class A truck driving license.
Rick spent the next many years as the owner/operator of his own trucking business delivering for Beacons Furniture and Emery's Distribution Warehouse.
After many years on the road Rick left the truck driving industry to pursue his true passion of teaching skiing. Rick started working at Sunday River in 1989. He was the director of the kids ski school program and pioneered what it is today. He stayed at Sunday River from 1989- 2010 working the winter seasons. He made and developed many great skiers, along with many life-long friends.
Through the summer season Rick worked at Mt. Washington Auto Rd. He eventually became a year-round employee in 2005. Rick was the main mechanic along with every other thing that needed to be done there from putting tracks on snow coaches - to electrical issues - to making sure the grooming equipment worked - Rick was the man that got it done.
Ricks dedication to his work will be greatly missed by his fellow employees at Mt. Washington Auto road.
As dedicated as Rick was to his work, his true dedication was to his family. He found it in his heart to be a foster parent for many years and he loved spending his down time with his wife Darlene and granddaughters Jozlyn and Lyana. He did everything he could with them from going to the ocean, to camping, to fishing, to day adventures to just spending quality time at home. Rick adored his family more than anything.
Rick was a stand-up guy with a huge personality, goofy sense of humor and a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
