WATERVILLE - Elsie L. Dority, 94, passed from this life and went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018 at Lakewood Continuing Care in Waterville, Maine.Elsie was born on Sep. 9, 1924, daughter of Byron and Lena (Larrabee) French in Somerville, Maine, and attended school in Somerville.She lived in Oakland, Maine for most of her life, living for a short time in Iowa, Florida and Texas before returning to Maine in 2008. Her relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and ministering in the role of a Sunday school teacher was very important to her.She worked as a spinner at the Cascade Woolen mill for many years, as a hostess at a restaurant and in a bridal shop, which she thoroughly enjoyed.  Her favorite pastimes were entertaining friends at her home and knitting mittens for her grandchildren.The family wishes to thank everyone at Lakewood Continuing Care for their loving care of Elsie during the final years of her life.She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughters, Patricia A Wood, Sharon M. Staples; son-in-law, Joseph Staples and daughter-in-law, Ann Snow; father and mother; brothers, John, Maurice, Everett, Herbert and Roy; and sisters, Grace Atwood, Ruby Christian, Mary Wescott, Muriel Pickering, Marjorie Knox, Virginia Wilcox, and Eunice Hill. Elsie will be sadly missed by her son, Elbridge H. Snow Jr. of Somerville; her daughter, Joyce Stevens and her husband, Eugene, of Oakland; and her son-in-law, Dr. David R. Wood of Oakland; 13 grandchildren: Rae Marie Murphy, John Snow, Mike Tesseo, Leslie Dyer, Susan Sawyer, Joette DuPerry, Tracy Hallee, David Wood Jr., Jereme Wood, Stacie Dawson, Angie Cunningham, Joseph Staples and Damien Staples; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.There will be a celebration of her life at Plummer Funeral Home, Windsor Chapel,  983 Ridge Road, Windsor, Maine, on Wednesday Nov. 7.  Visiting will be at 10 a.m., with the service following at 10:30 a.m. Private burial will be held following the service.Condolences, stories and photo's may be shared through the funeral home website at: www.plummerfh.com.
