Diane M. LaPlante
1955 - 2018
NORWICH, Conn. - Diane M. LaPlante, 62, passed away at her home on July 29, 2018, after a period of declining health. She was born in Skowhegan, Maine, on Dec. 6, 1955, the daughter of Lucille and Emile LaPlante. She was educated at schools in Norridgewock and Skowhegan, graduating from Skowhegan Area High School in 1974.
Diane completed a radiology program at St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston and started her career as a radiographer and mammography technician. At the beginning of her career, she worked in Millinocket but moved to California and worked at various medical facilities in the San Francisco/Oakland area for over 30 years. In 2012, she retired and moved to Norwich, Conn., to be closer to family as she dealt with ongoing health issues.
Diane enjoyed her family and friends in Maine, Connecticut and California. She was a devoted San Francisco 49ers fan, taking great pleasure in reminding her family members and friends when her favorite football team was doing well. She enjoyed travelling and telling fond stories of vacations with family and friends.
Diane is survived by her beloved father, Emile. She will be dearly missed by her brothers and sister, their spouses and their families- Larry and Anne LaPlante of Hampden, Maine, Wayne and Debi LaPlante of Mt. Home, Idaho, Karen and TJ Restivo of Lisbon, Conn., and Mike LaPlante of Rio Rancho, N.M. "Auntie Di" will be missed by her many nieces and nephews but fond memories will live on. Her surviving aunts, uncles and cousins will miss her "catch up" calls and her good cheer and positive attitude.
She was predeceased by her mother, Lucille; as well as her grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
In accordance with Diane's wishes, in September, there will be a private burial in Skowhegan, Maine. A celebration of her life is also planned for September in Connecticut.
