LITCHFIELD - Diane Greaves Friel, born Oct. 20, 1943, to Stanley and Natalie (Ambrose) Greaves in Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019.

Diane grew up in Connecticut where she met her husband, Bill. They married in 1966 and went on to have four daughters. They lived in Connecticut until 1984, when they moved to Maine.

Diane writes that she wanted this a part of her obituary.

"The clock of life

is wound but once,

And no man has the power

To tell just when the hands will stop

At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth

is sad indeed,

To lose one's health

is more,

To lose one's soul

is such a loss

That no man can restore.

The present only

is our own,

So live, love, toil

with a will.

Place no faith

in tomorrow,

For the clock may then be still" …..Robert H. Smith

Then she writes…

" God Bless you all,

my time has come"

She leaves behind her three daughters. Pamela (Friel) Cartonio and husband, Anthony of Litchfield, Janice (Friel) Lesser and husband John of Gorham, and Sara Friel of Standish; Diane's sister Barbara Hardesty of Berlin, Conn., brother David Greaves and wife Karen, Cromwell, Conn., sister Joan Ames of East Hampton, Conn., sister Carole Vieregg and husband Bill of Colorado, and a sister-in-law Angela Sealander and husband Richard of Cheshire, Conn.
