DETROIT - Delbert McLaggan, 86, died Feb. 2, 2019, at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Detroit, a son of Cecil and Erma (Bryant) McLaggan Sr. Del graduated from Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield, in 1951. He married the former Joyce Weeks in 1955. They lived and raised their children in Detroit in his grandparent's home, the family homestead.

He retired in 1994 from Staples Oil Company where he was a delivery driver for 43 years. He had also worked for J. R. Cianchette. He loved family get togethers, spending time with his family, sitting out on the porch, garage sales and doing jig saw puzzles. He enjoyed brook trout fishing, going to the coast for lobster dinners, walking the beaches looking for sea glass and playing bingo scratch tickets. He took great pride in maintaining his home and keeping the lawns well groomed.

Del is survived by his wife of 63 years, son Kevin and wife, Annette McLaggan of South China; daughter, Debora McLaggan and partner, Warren Lund of Gray; grandson, Kyle McLaggan and partner, Myriah Cotter of South China; brother, Royce McLaggan of Plymouth, sister, Lorraine Bouffard of Pittsfield, sister-in-law, Doris McLaggan of Hahira, Ga.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special neighbors and close family friends.

He was predeceased by his sister, Colleen Hobbs, brother, Cecil McLaggan Jr., sister. Beatrice Soucy and husband. Francis; brother-in-law, Normand Bouffard; and nephew, Norman Bouffard Jr.

Special thanks to Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital for the kind comforting care during his stay, and Northern Light VNA Home Health and Hospice.

At Del's request there will be a private family service at Crosby & Neal, Newport. Spring burial will be in the Detroit Village Cemetery. He also requested that no flowers or memorial donations be made in his memory. Those who wish may leave written condolences at
