UNITY - Cora Mae (Penney) Carmichael, born Oct. 31, 1937, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015. Cora died peacefully with her family at her side.
Cora was born at home on Quaker Hill Road in Unity at her grandparent's home. On Oct. 31, 1953, she married the love of her life, Sheldon Carmichael Sr., whom she has now joined in Heaven.
Cora was a loving and caring soul with a heart of gold. Her day was complete when she could help someone in need. Her heart was filled with joy to spend time with her family. Cora enjoyed working many years of her life with her husband on the farm and being a wonderful loving mother to their six children. Her day was never done until each child was fed and bathed before bed. She will be sadly missed by many.
Cora is predeceased by her husband, Sheldon; her parents, Benjamin and Dolly (Thompson) Penney; her brother, Benjamin Penney Jr., her sisters, Sharon (Penney) Henry, Marguerite (Penney) Raven, and Winnie (Penney) Morton. Cora is survived by her children, Sheldon Carmichael Jr. and his wife, Wanda of Campobello Island NB, Kathy Carmichael of Orrington, Melonie (Carmichael) Kaufmann and her husband, Dicky of Benton, Darrell Carmichael of Sidney, Bonita Faith (Carmichael) Hobart and her husband, Jeff of Omro, Wis., and Wendy Carmichael of Freedom. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Holly (Curtis) MacDonald, Charity (Curtis) Vines, Benjamin Carmichael, Matthew Carmichael, Katie Carmichael, Joseph A. Picard, Jesse E. Picard, Jessica M. Phillips, Jacob Phillips, Tyler L. Borgers, Lyle Hanson and Ginny Lee; many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service officiated by Pastor Matthew Shaw held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Rogers Cemetery on the Rogers Road in Troy. There will be a celebration of Cora's life following the service at the Unity United Methodist Church, 13 Depot St. in Unity Maine. God Bless.
