FARMINGDALE - Chester "Chet" A. Weed Jr., beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 92, on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 at the Maine Veterans Home, in Augusta.

He was born in Biddeford, on June 14, 1926, the son of Chester A. and Hazel P. (Banta) Weed. He grew up in Manchester, the youngest of five children (Delphine, William, Kenneth, Emmerson), and graduated from Cony High School in 1944. He served in the Navy during WWII from December 1943 to May 1946, where he spent 18 months in foreign service.

He married the former Claire E. Jones "Bunny" on Sept. 6, 1946, at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church and they celebrated 72 years before her passing on Oct. 5, 2018.

Chet was employed as an electrician for 25 years, retiring in 1989. He was a 50-year member of the IBEW Local 1253. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, antique cars, airplanes, gardening and working around his house which he built in 1963.

He is survived by two sons, David A. Weed and wife, Carol of West Virginia and Gary S. Weed and fianceé, Jane McLaughlin of Farmingdale and Augusta; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Per his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the spring. The family would like to express their appreciation to the caring and wonderful staff at the Maine Veterans Home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., in Augusta.
