SKOWHEGAN - Carolyn V. "Calla" Hewett, 83, of Skowhegan passed away peacefully on October 6, 2018 .
She was born in Norridgewock, on Dec. 24, 1934 the daughter of Charles and Marion (Taylor) Whipple.
She attended local schools in Madison and Starks. Although she did not graduate, she was proud to receive her GED after returning to school in 1985.
Carolyn married the love of her life Dwain N. Hewett on February 6, 1954.
Carolyn worked at several shoe shops is the area as well as Monmouth Canning, and later retired from Forester Manufacturing in East Wilton as a supervisor.
Carolyn enjoyed reading, knitting, canning vegetables, spending time with her family and mostly spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by both parents, her husband, Dwain Hewett, who passed on Dec. 2, 2014, her brother Richard Whipple, and sisters, Madelyn Price, Gloria Pratt, and Geraldine Hackett.
She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Hewett and her partner Stephen Albert of Millinocket, Dorothy Kennard of Florida, and Robin Vining and her husband David of Skowhegan; her granddaughters, Tara, Katrinia, Niki, and Jena and their significant others; her great-grandchildren, Tevin, Blayne, Logan, Laney, Evan, Trenton, Jaylynn, and Rowan; her three sisters, Dorothy Wing, Beverly Arsenault, and Virginia Glazier; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Wendy Dicranian who cared for Carolyn with the utmost kindness and compassion.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 in East Cemetery, North New Portland at 2 PM.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Madison.
