Brigitte E. Plante
1942 - 2018
AUGUSTA - Brigitte E. Plante, 76, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 6, 2018, at her residence. She was born in Gdansk, Poland and raised in Germany, the daughter of the late Karl and Hildagard (Blazer) Hinz.
She spent her younger years in the Black Forest. She was the youngest of three siblings. When she was 12 years old, she moved with her mother to Frankfurt, Germany. She attended the schools in Frankfurt.
At the age of 22, she came to the United States where she started her new adventure in life.
She worked at Lipman Poultry for over 10 years. She then went to Hallowell Shoe Company until her early retirement.
She met the love of her life in 1968, whom she dated and then married her soulmate and started her new life her in the United States. She often would return back to her home in Germany to visit with family and friends and just to take in the scenic views of the country in which she grew up.
She came to the US not speaking a word of English, married an American soldier and had two children: Bobby and Tammy. Later on in life, she met Raymond, her soulmate, and started a whole new life where she raised her children with the support of Raymond Plante, her husband, and the love of her life.
She enjoyed traveling around the world and always found her heart to be in the warmest of places like Playa Del Carmen Mexico. Her favorite place to be was home, surrounded by her flowers and the smell of the Maine coastal air. She and Raymond were always traveling to places that she loved, mostly coastal Maine. She always found the best lobster places with the coldest beers! She was happiest when she and Raymond were adventuring off some place new and finding a new location that she wanted to see and visit. They went on many adventures and enjoyed one another's company to the fullest, as this was what they both enjoyed. She was very fortunate to have had the opportunities that she had to visit different countries and multiple States.
Brigitte is survived by her loving and supportive husband, Raymond Plante of Augusta; her son, Robert Morang and his wife Shelly Sabourin Morang of Scarborough; her daughter, Tammy Turner and her finance' Brent Hart of Chelsea; grandchildren, Sarah Morang and Erik Morang of Steamboat, Colo. and Meagan Desjardins and her husband Brian of Fayette. She had two absolutely handsome great grandsons, Mason and Carter James; a sister,-in-law, Diane and Richard Carrier; two brothers-in-law, Maurice Plante and his wife Pierette and Jean-Luc Plante all of Granby, P.Q.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at a later date in Kling Cemetery, West River Rd., Augusta.
Arrangements are under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
