Anita M. Parent
1926 - 2018
AUGUSTA - Anita M. Parent, 91, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Long Term Care Center at Gray Birch following a long illness. She was born in Welland, Ontario, Canada on Dec. 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Octave and Yvonne (Pepin) Gilbert.
Mrs. Parent was a graduate of Cony High School and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
She had been employed for over 30 years by Dr. Henry Bourassa as a Dental Assistant.
Mrs. Parent was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, AARP, St. Paul Cusillio Group, was a former Secretary for the Assumption Society, taught CCD at St. Augustine for several years, did pastoral care at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta and was a former Board Member of the City of Augusta Community Development Advisory Committee.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norman A. Parent; her son, Raymond Parent; and three brothers: Henry, Noel and Raymond Gilbert.
Mrs. Parent is survived by her daughter, Therese Golden and her husband, Gary, of Augusta; a sister, Jeannette Gagne of Augusta; a daughter-in-law, Rosanne Carey of Hallowell; four grandchildren: Kyle and Julie Parent, Erica and Kevin Golden and his wife, Ana; two great-grandchildren: Chloe Parent and Benjamin Golden as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Gilly Gagne.
At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 11 a.m., at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Avenue, Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Road, Augusta.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Gray Birch for the care and compassion they showed to Anita and the family during her time in their care.
