-
Andrew J. Denalsky passed away suddenly on Sept. 6, 2018. Born in Hartford, Conn. on Nov. 13, 1937, son of the late Andrew and Mary (Marmont) Denalsky, Andy was a lifelong resident of Tariffville/Simsbury.
He attended Tariffville Elementary School; graduated from Simsbury High School Class of 1955; attended Central Connecticut State College where he excelled in basketball and baseball.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy, and they moved to Long Island, N.Y. and then eventually back to Simsbury to raise their family. They enjoyed summering on Martha's Vineyard and in Maine. Andy was called to serve his country and upon his discharge from the US Army, he became a member of the Simsbury Police Dept, retiring as Sergeant. After many years of service Andy retired to Embden, Maine where he and Dottie spent many wonderful, memorable years with family and friends. After Dottie's and Clinton's deaths in 2014 Andy moved to Agawam, Mass.
He will be remembered by his family and friends for his many Maine hunting, fishing, and camping trips, his beautiful paintings and wood carvings, passion for fly tying, great sense of humor and, above all, his devotion to his family.
Andy was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy (Rohrer) Denalsky; and their son, Clinton Denalsky. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Kevin) Leigland and his son Kurt (Jeanne Mainville) Denalsky; as well as his devoted grandchildren Avery (Meridyth) Leigland, Kyle and Kalyn Denalsky; his brother Joseph Denalsky, his sisters Patricia (Bob) Carto, Lorraine (Richard) Curtiss and Maryilyn (Al) Doucette, his sister-in-law Patricia (William) Banks; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church, 942 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Simsbury Cemetery.
