HALLOWELL - Stephen Michael Frend, 65, of Hallowell, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, with his loving family by his side after a long, courageous battle with heart disease.
Steve was born in Phillips on Aug. 30, 1948, to James R. Frend and Madeline S. Frend. He graduated from Phillips High School and attended Husson University. Steve was married to the love of his life Debbie for the past 16 years. He was a good person and he cared about people.
Those who knew him liked him. He dearly loved his wife Debbie, his girls Stephanie, Kristin "Katie," Dorothy "Meg," Lacie and Betsy; and his dogs, Buddy and Zippy. He and his lifelong best friend Alden Smith spent many hours enjoying the woods of Maine. Steve loved life.
Steve spent his life in the automobile business. He knew and loved the car business. Over the years, he received numerous awards and recognitions as a result of his knowledge and success.
He excelled in every role he took. He had a strong work ethic.
Steve is survived by his wife, Debbie; his daughters, Stephanie Curless, Kristin Ure-Frend and her partner, Dane Groves, Dorothy Frend, Lacie Clark and her husband, Robert, and Betsy Curtis and her husband, Nicholas. He loved and doted on his grandchildren, Greta and Eliott Ure, Ashton Glockler, Ayden and Cooper Clark, and Hunter, Stella and Jackson Curtis.
He had a special place in his heart for his son-in-law, Kevin Ure. He is also survived by his older brother, Peter Frend, of Farmington.
Services will be at noon on Saturday, Nov. 2, at First Baptist Church, 4 Franklin St., Hallowell. Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to the time of service.
