ROME -- Susan J. (Furbush) Gomez, 55, died Saturday August 24, 2013 at Maine General Medical Center in Waterville.

She was born in Waterville on April 22, 1958, the daughter of Weslie and Rosie (Witham) Furbush. Susan attended Messalonskee High School and worked many years at the Pine Acres Restaurant in Oakland.

Susan loved to fish and especially enjoyed her fishing trips up country. She was an avid football fan of the New England Patriots, and was proud to attend her son's football games through his high school years. Thursdays were her special time with her mother, shopping and playing Yahtzee.

Susan was predeceased by her father, Westlie Furbush Sr., a sister, Deborah Truman, and two nephews, Peter Brickett and Joshua Furbush. Surviving are her husband of 25 years, Duane Gomez, of Rome, her mother, Rosie Wood and husband Donald, of Oakland, her son, Anthony Harmon, of Waterville, two daughters, Danette Furbush, of Waterville, and Danielle Furbush, of Canaan, brothers Archie Furbush and wife Sandra, of Oakland, and Westlie Furbush Jr. and wife Susan, of Smithfield, her sister Sherry Furbush and fiance Mickey White, of Waterville, a granddaughter, Sierra Dorr, who she raised as a daughter, grandchildren Ashley, Brianna, Jordan, Kiana, Lilli, Toni and Anthony, great-grandson Austin, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the workers from HealthReach Hospice, especially Cathy and Deb, for their wonderful care.

Friends are invited to visit 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Lewis Cemetery Cottle Road Oakland.
