BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -- Robert C. Curtis Sr., 75, died March 12, 2013, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born in Auburn on July 26, 1937, the son of Alton W. and Irene (Grant) Curtis.

Robert married Rose P. Roy of Augusta on July 21, 1956. He later married Amy L. Lucas of Readfield on Dec. 16, 1978.

In Maine, he was an auxiliary police officer for Hallowell from 1957 to 1958, worked at Hallowell Shoe, Hazzard Shoe, Carlton Woolen Mill, Wyndock Woolen Mill, Maranacook School, Comfort Inn and Days Inn. He also worked at Six Gun Territory, Ocala Place Apartments and White's Meat Packing in Florida until his retirement with disabilities in 1991.

Robert loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting.

Robert was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Beverly Greer.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Amy Curtis, of Brooksville; eight sons, Robert C. Jr., of Vassalboro, Gerald and wife Kathy, of Waterville, Kenneth and Kevin, both of Augusta, Kim, of Brooksville, Lance and wife Marion, of Readfield, Cameron Sr. and wife Natalie, of Springhill, Fla., and Ryan, of Brooksville; three daughters, Rebecca Rollins and husband Frederick, of Islesboro, Joycelene Turcotte, of Readfield, and Tracy Curtis, of Brooksville; 29 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
