FARMINGDALE -- Karen J. Gagnon, 58, of Caron Drive, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta.

She was born in Portland on May 19, 1954, the daughter of Richard and Hazel (Warren) Jones.

Karen graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 1972. She had worked at the Copy Center in Augusta and J.S. McCarthy's in Augusta for many years. She later helped her parents run the Randolph Take Out for four years, where she made many friends of the regular customers, before becoming disabled.

Karen was an avid crafter. She would see something she liked, go home to her workshop and make it. She came to enjoy the outdoors and looked forward to camping trips and watching the wildlife. Of all the things she found pleasure in, nothing meant more to her than her grandchildren and family.

Karen was predeceased by a brother, Kevin Jay Jones.

She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Kelvin Gagnon, of Farmingdale; two sons, Aron John McCarthy, and his wife, Jenny, of Sidney, and Ryan Patrick McCarthy, and his fiancee, Holly Johnson, of Augusta; a daughter, Kara Jessica Wing, and her husband, Derek, of Augusta; her parents, Richard and Hazel Jones, of Randolph; a sister, Karol L. Rush, and her husband, Mark, of Randolph; three grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth McCarthy, Aidan John McCarthy and Jackson Alexander Wing; her mother-in-law, Judith Gagnon, of Augusta; also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and her cat, Kismet.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. Spring burial will occur in Forest Grove Cemetery, Augusta.
