PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Deborah Ann Paquette Veilleux, formerly of Fairfield, Maine, died on Aug. 26, 2012, at the Conventry Health Center in Conventry, R.I. She had been a patient at Providence R.I. Hospital since Dec. 3, 2011.

Deborah was born on May 31, 1949, one of 12 children to Wallace and Hope (Holt) Paquette.

She graduated from Lawrence High School and the University of Maine in Orono.

After her marriage, she moved to Norton, Mass., and then to Johnston, R.I. Years later she moved to Providence, where she lived out the remainder of her life.

Deborah had many wonderful and caring friends who stood by her in the many trials and tribulations that she endured. And there were many.

She wanted to live her life to the very fullest, and as sick as she was, made up her mind to get her master's degree at Boston University, and she did that in 2001, against all odds. We were so proud of her.

Deborah was such a fierce fighter and managed to bounce back every time. She never complained about her illness, but the chronic lung disease that she was born with took its toll and left her too tired to fight any more.

We will all miss her sharp wit, her sense of humor and her counsel. She was truly one of a kind.

She leaves behind her only son, Thomas, a captain in the Air Force stationed in England with his family, wife Nicole, two daughters, Madison and Shelly, whom Del adored; her brothers, Don and wife Carol, Taunton, Mass., and Wallace "Wally" and wife Lorena, of Augusta; three sisters, Constance Laflamme (Dan), of Fairfield, Prudence "Prudy" Moody (Mike), of Fairfield, and Susan Ross (John), of Cumberland, Maine; brother-in-law Robert Simpson, currently in Madison, Maine; a special sister-in-law, Jackie Chadbourne, who was always willing to give her a ride whenever she wanted to come home to Maine for a visit.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Paula Paquette Simpson; her sister, Rebecca Hope Paquette; her brother, Roberts Paquette; her brother, Thomas Paquette; infant sisters, Patricia Jean and Carol Anne; and two nephews, Randall Paquette and Kyle Paquette.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Faith and Hope Baptist Church in Providence, R.I. Burial will be private in Maplewood Cemetery, Fairfield.

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breaths away."

Rest well, dear sister and friend.
