BENTON -- Kyle Frank Hafenecker, 44, died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011. He was born on Oct. 2, 1966, in Waterville, to surviving parents John and Lori Hafenecker. He attended Waterville schools. He was employed by Granite Corp. in Oakland.

Other surviving relatives are his brother, John Gary Hafenecker, of Georgia; sister Cheryl Hamel Daly and husband Tom of Waterville; twin sister Leslie Dolan and husband Patrick of South Carolina; and Aunt Bea Hafenecker of Winslow. He also had many nieces, nephews and cousins. The loves of his life were his six children, Derek Hafenecker and girlfriend Katie Cote, Jacob Hafenecker and girlfriend Renee Young, Angela Hafenecker and boyfriend Dillon Russ, and their mother Alicia Libby and her husband Jason, all of Newport; Sage Hafenecker, Brooke Hafenecker and Hannah Hafenecker and their mother Sarah Malloy, all of Waterville. He also leaves behind many, many special friends, including Earline Bickford, Kevin and Lisa Purnell, Randy Wells, Terri McPherson, Jerry Bickford and the rest of the Granite Corp. family. We cannot thank you enough for being there for absolutely anything Kyle needed.

Kyle had a wonderful work ethic and his love for cars has followed him his whole life. He has worked at Central Maine Motors detailing cars, Sullivan Tire in N.H. retreading tires and has always helped family and friends work on their cars. He began working for Mid State Plumbing and for the last eight years, he has worked his way to becoming a plumbing foreman with a wonderful company owned by Kevin Purnell called Granite Corp. of Oakland. To those who knew him, he took pride in his work and was a very generous, giving man. He had recently taken up another passion: demolition derby. He had raced this year in Skowhegan and won his first 1st-place prize. He will be remembered by some as "The 222 Hafenwrecker"! His other hobbies included fishing and riding his motorcycle.

An open visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at 1 Allen St., Waterville at his parents' home. The family will be holding a private service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, should you desire, since Kyle suffered from Crohn's since he was a teen, tax deductible donations in his memory can be made to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of New England, 280 Hillside Avenue, Needham, MA 02494, online at or call 800-314-3459.

Thank you to Veilleux Funeral Home for the compassionate way arrangements were made for the family for their personal viewing.
