VASSALBORO -- Robert A. Stevenson of Fairway Drive in Vassalboro died of heart failure on Oct. 27, 2010.

He was born on May 6, 1945, in Rockland, the son of Robert Myron Stevenson and Janet (Keene) Stevenson. He was raised in Needham, Mass., where he graduated from Needham High School in 1963.

Bob graduated from Babson College in 1967 with a bachelor's degree in business investments and then went on to serve as a lieutenant with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam, earning two Bronze Stars and the Army Commendation Medal for Valor.

Bob moved to central Maine in 1971 and was employed as a sales executive by Xerox Corporation and as co-owner with his wife of Averill Farm Ice Cream. In 1984, he co-founded Saturn Business Services of Waterville and served as its president until his death.

Bob was a charter and lifetime board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kennebec Valley; a founding member of the Waterville Sunrise Rotary Club, established in 2002; and a member of Penney Memorial United Baptist Church in Augusta.

Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Martha (Eames) Stevenson of Vassalboro; his daughter, Sarah A. Stevenson and her fiance, John Stitzer, of Boston; his son, Robert M. Stevenson, and his fiancee, Megan Maglaras, and her daughter, Ashlynne, of New Sharon; two brothers, David K. Stevenson and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Dedham, Mass., and Richard W. Stevenson and his wife, Karen, of Hampton Falls, N.H.; his brother-in-law, Myron Allen Eames III and his wife, Carolyn, of Lewiston; and two cousins, Harriet Wilson of Sanbornville, N.H., and Constance Cunningham of Soquel, Calif.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, Augusta.
