CHELSEA -- Paul Robert Paradis, 47, passed peacefully to heaven, Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Country Manor in Coopers Mills, in the presence of his family.

Paul was born in Augusta, Aug. 16, 1963, to Roger and Paulina (Taylor) Paradis. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1983. Paul was born a very special child. He battled a lifetime of illnesses, but even with his own problems, he tried to make everyone else happy. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Paul was proud of his Native American heritage and attended several powwows in the area. He also had a great fondness for Mickey Mouse and, if not for his recent illnesses, he would have gone to Disney World in 2008.

Paul was predeceased by his mother, Paulina M. Paradis; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his father, Roger Paradis, and his stepmother, Viola Paradis, of Pittston; his sister Donna West and her husband, Edwin, of Chelsea; his brother, Donald Paradis of Chelsea; his sister Paulina Cates of Newport; his sister Rhonda Murray of Lompoc, Calif.; along with several nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly, especially David, who was raised like a brother.

A committal ceremony will be held at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Paul's memory to Maine Special Olympics, which he always enjoyed competing in. Donations may be sent to Special Olympics Maine, Attn: Linda, 125 John Roberts Road No. 19, South Portland, ME 04106.
