SOUTH GARDINER -- G. Peter Reynolds, 57, of River Avenue, South Gardiner, died Friday April 16, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Gardiner on May 10, 1952, a son of Chester and Leona Hinkley Reynolds.

He graduated from Gardiner High School, Class of 1970. He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono, Class of 1974. He worked in various retail positions for many years.

In 1994 he took over operations of Chet and Leona's Market in South Gardiner until June 2009.

Peter was predeceased by his father, Chester, his brother, Paul, and his older brother, Chester Jr., maternal grandparents Horace and Alice Hinkley and paternal grandparents Clyde and Gladys Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Terri Tobin Reynolds of South Gardiner; his mother, Leona Hinkley Reynolds of Gardiner; his sister, Pamela Reynolds, and partner Karen Staggs of Readfield; sister, Diane Witt and husband, Jerry, and their daughter, Zoe, of Deming, Wash.; sister-in-law Maryjo Higgins of Augusta; sister and brother-in-law Ann and Brenton Bishop of Port Lucie, Fla., and brother-in-law Charles Tobin and partner; Theresa Dean, of New Jersey; two nieces, Liana and husband, Steven King, and their daughter, Leona, of San Antonio, Texas, and Stacey Reynolds and her partner,, Luka Durasinovic of Austin, Texas; nephew Aaron Reynolds and fiancée, Meredith Kendall, of Houston, Texas; several other nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Jezebele and Martin; and several aunts and uncles.

Visiting hours will be today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.
