Virginia M. Gallant
1927 - 2017
SKOWHEGAN - Virginia M. Gallant, 89, passed away at the Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan on Sept. 2, 2017.
She was born on Dec. 27, 1927, in Madison, the daughter of Edward J. Richard and Delma M. (Willette) Richard.
She graduated from Madison Memorial High School, Class of 1946.
She married Antonio Gallant on Jan. 4, 1947, in Madison. He died on Aug. 7, 1987.
She spent most of her life as a homemaker, and she loved raising her family.
She liked to line dance, enjoyed crocheting, loved being outside in her yard and taking pride in caring for her property.
She is survived by her three children, Ronald Gallant and his wife Christine, of Anson; Edward Gallant and his wife Diane, of Norridgewock; and Patricia Rea and her husband James, of Titusville, Fla.; three sisters, Phyllis Briggs and her husband Douglas, of Gray; Ann Marie McCarthy and her husband Leland, of Madison; and Jeannette Arsenault, of Madison; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one son, Richard Gallant; one great-granddaughter, Amy Gallant; three sisters, Yvette Richard, Lorraine Dugas and Marjorie Berard; and three brothers, Aurel Richard, Omer Richard and Hubert Richard.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery, North Avenue, in Skowhegan.
