AUGUSTA - Negri, Vincent A., 70, of Augusta, passed away on July 3, 2017. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and "Papa", after a courageous 4-year battle with cancer. Born in Lynn, Mass. to the late Ora L. ( Beaumont ) and Anthony V. Negri, he is survived by his wife, Janet M. Negri of Augusta; his daughter and son-in-law Janelle R. and Joe Dowling of South Carolina, son Jarrod V. Negri of Augusta. He was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Briana Elise Negri. He was the proud "Papa" to his beloved dogs, CJ, Cricket, Rex and Rio, and his faithful buddy Scooter, all of whom brought him comfort in his final days. He was affectionately called the "Dogfather". He also leaves behind many special relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.
Also known as the "Sax Man", he graduated from Lynn English HS, Lynn, Mass., in 1964, playing his sax in the school band, and forming his own bands in his adult years, playing his beloved sax, lead guitar, and keyboards, and sharing his love of Jazz, Blues, and Rock for all to appreciate.
He was a Veteran of the Army Reserves, and member of Amer. Leg. Post 2 in Augusta.
In strict accordance with his wishes, there were no services. Cremation was handled by Direct Cremation in Auburn.
We wish to thank all the wonderful, caring people at the Alfond Cancer Ctr. in Augusta, Janie and Shelly at the Anticoagulation Clinic in Augusta, and Jean and Shannon of Hospice Services, for their outstanding care in our difficult 4-year have all made the journey a lot easier for us to handle.
