Rose Nedik
1925 - 2017
AUGUSTA - Rose Nedik, 92, devoted wife and mother, went to her final resting place on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at the Alfond Center for Health, Augusta, following a long illness.
She was born in Augusta, on June 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Henry and Melvina (Comeau) Quirion.
Mrs. Nedik attended Augusta St. Augustine School and Cony High School, and was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
She had been employed as a licensed practical nurse at Kennebec Valley Medical Center for 25 years, retiring in 1990, and had previously been employed for 15 years at Hallowell Shoe Co.
She married the love of her life, Alson Nedik, on June 2, 1947. Together, they raised five children and became the grandparents of 10 grandchildren and several great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.
Following retirement, they traveled to visit family and enjoyed camping.
Mrs. Nedik was predeceased by her husband, Alson F. Nedik Sr.; and her brother, Robert Quirion.
She is survived by three sons: Alson F. Nedik Jr., and his wife Gisela, of Milford; Anthony "Tony" M. Nedik, and his wife Terra, of Newburgh; and Robert A. Nedik, of Chelsea; two daughters: Donna N. Miller, of Springfield, La.; and Mary S. Naughton, and her husband Jack, of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Brian Beaulieu, Candice Beaulieu, Julie Beaulieu, Tania Carpentier, Jonathan Nedik, Evan Nedik, Christina Mendoza, Angela Chavez, Connie Alvarado and Cathy O'Neal; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may visit on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta. Following cremation, burial will be held at a later date in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
