Rodney Earl McKenna
1937 - 2018
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Rodney E. McKenna passed away peacefully Jan. 27, 2018, in Brooksville, Fla.
Rodney was born Nov. 10, 1937, in Richmond, Maine, the son of Vinton J. McKenna and Leona (Small) McKenna. One of 11 children, he grew up in Gardiner, Maine.
Rodney served his country in the United States Air Force and later retired from BIW in Bath.
Rodney had a big heart and great sense of humor. He always put family and friends first.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vinton J. McKenna and Leona (Small) McKenna; six brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Harold, Roland, Lawrence, and Steven; and three sisters, Beverly A. Ryan, Judith A. Dearborn, and Sue E. Moody.
Rodney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle A. McKenna; sister, Corine Beckwith; daughters, Teresa L. White and husband Terry of West Gardiner, Lucena D. McKenna and her companion Dale Winchenbaugh of Somerville, and Leona McKenna and husband Russel Shea of Augusta; sons, Rodney E. McKenna Jr. and wife Lisa of Augusta, Kevin J. McKenna of Manchester, and Brett A. McKenna of Pittston; grandchildren, Chad J. McKenna, Shawn M. McKenna, Donald S. Austin, John P. Moreland, Joseph R. Moreland, Crystal A. Moreland, Cassandra D. McKenna, and Logan R. McKenna; several great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rodney had a heart of gold and loved all. He was always there for whoever needed him, and could put a smile on anyone's face. He touched the hearts and souls of many with his humor and grace. The love he showed was impeccable; his kindness was overwhelming. The courage and strength he carried throughout his life has made an impact on all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
