Robert C. Prince
1927 - 2017
WATERVILLE - Robert C. Prince, 90, of Waterville, formerly of Arlington, Mass., died on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, following a period of declining health.
Mr. Prince was born July 1, 1927, the son of the late Charles E. and Beulah (Jardine) Prince. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to the late Thelma (LeBlanc) Prince. Mr. Prince was a graduate of Peabody (Mass.) High School, Tufts University and Boston University, where he received a Master's in Music Education.
He made a career out of his love of music, serving as the Supervisor of Music for the Medford Public Schools, choir director and bass soloist for the Weston (Mass.) First Baptist Church and director of the Highland Glee Club. He had several opportunities to sing with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus.
He was a late member of the Mystic Valley Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Arlington.
He was the loving father of Janet E. Prince and her husband Peter Bergh of Portsmouth, N.H., a son David R. Prince and his wife Michele of Winslow, and a son William C. Prince of Arlington. He was the cherished grandfather of Hadley Bergh, Joel Allen, Ben Allen and his wife Meg, and William J. Prince; as well as the great-grandfather of Ava Allen and Josie Mae Newbury-Allen. He is survived by four cousins, Frances Ziarkowski of Salem, Mass. (his "double" cousin), Edith Anne Purdy of Amherst, Nova Scotia, Robert Jardine of Penniac, New Brunswick and Jean Cochrane of Ottawa, Ontario.
Calling hours will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Square), Somerville. Internment follows at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Family and friends invited
