Richard E. Lachance, Sr.
1942 - 2018
BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. - Richard E. Lachance, Sr., 75. died at his home in Bullhead City, Ariz. on Jan. 25, 2018, after a long illness. Richard was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Brunswick, Maine to Wilfred and Dorothy (Lapham) Lachance. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1960.
As a young man, he owned and operated his own excavating company where he excelled at what he did. In 2010, he retired from the town of Richmond where he served as the road commissioner for 23 years. Richard took great pride in his work always wanting everything to be perfect, and the roads to be in the best conditions at all times.
In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors. His retirement years brought him great joy summering in Maine on Pleasant Pond where he loved sitting on the deck and watching wildlife and visiting with friends and family. He spent the winter months in Arizona spending times with his beloved mother, doing karaoke, and visiting casinos and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Wilfred Lachance in June of 1996, and his son, Richard E. Lachance, Jr. in July of 2007.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Lachance of Bullhead City, Ariz.; his children Sonya M. Perry and her husband Craig of Sarasota, Fla., Karen L. Erdmann and her husband Dale of Dresden, Michael W. Lachance and his long-time companion Sherry Moody of Richmond, Angie L. Trumpet of Fort Wayne, Ind., Raymond S. Lachance of Jenera, Ohio; his grandchildren Jarrod M. Erdmann of Augusta, Breah L. Erdmann of Bedizzole, Italy, Kelsey P. Lachance of Richmond, Cristopher Trumpet, Jr, and Sean Bendross both of Fort Wayne, ind., Alice Lachance and Nathan Lachance of Jenera, Ohio; one great-grandchild who will arrive in July; his brothers David Lachance and his wife Candi of Valencia, Calif. and Geoffrey Lachance and his wife Betty of Nashville, Tenn.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
At the request of Richard, there will be a private service held later in the year.
