Patricia (Shea) Tripp
1930 - 2016
FARMINGTON - Patricia (Shea) Tripp, 85, of Farmington, formerly of South Windsor, Conn., died on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
Pat was born in Michigan on March 4, 1930, the daughter of John and Francis (Livingston) Shea. She grew up in South Windsor, Conn., where she graduated from Ellsworth High School.
During high school, Pat was an active member of the cheerleading team. She married John Tripp on May 26, 1951, and together they raised three children, David, Randy, and Scott. Patricia and John moved to Maine in 1996 to be closer to family.
Pat was a Christian woman whose faith was strong in the Lord. She was an active member at the First Congregational Church of South Windsor, and Old South Congregational Church in Farmington. In her younger years, she was on the Board of Christian Education in Connecticut and was part of the administration staff at the Church Conference Office in Hartford.
Pat was a selfless woman who constantly put others before herself. She served as a counselor at Silver Lake Summer Camp and Conference Center, and volunteered for many years at Franklin Memorial Hospital as well as the Wood Memorial Library in South Windsor. Pat was a diehard UConn women's basketball fan, and she enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, reading, and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kind heart and service to others.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Tripp and his wife, Patty of Farmington, and Scott Tripp and his wife Sharon of East Windsor, Conn.; grandchildren, Emma Garrity and her husband, Bryan of South Portland, and Matthew Tripp and his wife, Vanessa of Portland; a great-granddaughter, Paige Garrity; a sister, Harriet Mead of Vernon, Conn.; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Holly.
She was predeceased by her husband John in 2005, son Randy Tripp in 2011, and brother David Shea.
A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Old South Congregational Church, 227 Main St., Farmington. Immediately following the service, all are welcome to stay for a reception being held at the fellowship hall of the church. A memorial service will also be held in the spring in South Windsor, Conn. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington. Tributes and condolences may be shared by visiting her memorial wall at: www.wilesrc.com
