Mayna Elizabeth Mithee Damren
1937 - 2015
BELGRADE - Mayna Elizabeth Mithee Damren passed away at her Belgrade home Wednesday Oct. 28, 2015 in the care of her loving family. Born in Norwich, Conn. to Eldred Mithee and Maryellen Paradise Cronin, Mayna grew up in Oakland & Fairfield Center. She graduated from Lawrence high school in class of 1953. At 19 she married her true love Richard "Dick" Damren and were happily married 51 years. They made their home in North Belgrade and raised three children. Mayna worked many places in her lifetime, some of which included Hathaway, State of Maine Liquor Commission, and Amhi. She and Dick ran Damren's Store in Belgrade for 10 years. Her first loves were her family, friends and her animals. She also enjoyed the ocean, volunteering at the humane society, bird watching, and spending time at her camp on Great Pond. Mom was one of the first people I know to help others when in need whether it be getting a benefit supper going, or making a meal to help someone having a rough time in life. She instilled kindness and compassion in her family so deeply. She was able to live the remainder of her life at home because of her daughter Sue and granddaughter Dez.
Special thanks to Dr. Amy Madden, Mainely Elder Care of Oakland (Cathy Lawler, Ann Welch, and Hannah Marcia have been her earth angels), Lacey Real and all the staff at Health Reach, and Peter Stevens who took special care of Mayna.
Mayna leaves behind her daughter and caretaker Susan Damren, daughter Judy Damren Hallowell, son Richard Damren Jr and girlfriend Donna Boudreau; granddaughter Desiree Damren, grandson Jeremy Damren and his partner Thomas Stinson, grandson Scott Damren & wife Kate, grandson Conrad Shaw and sister Patricia Packard, granddaughter Lisa Strutin; granddogger Miley and sweet dog Lola. She is predeceased by her husband Richard Damren Sr.; father Eldred Mithee, her aunt Marion Mithee; and her son-in-law David L Hallowell. Although we will grieve the loss, we will celebrate that she is free of pain and suffering in this physical world. We love you – Rest Easy, "in a little bit".
A graveside service will be held on Thursday Nov. 5, 10 a.m. at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. An online guestbook may be signed and memories shared at www.lawrybrothers.com. Arrangements are by Lawry Brothers-Wheeler Funeral Home of Oakland
