Mary Bolduc Bangs
1916 - 2017
AUGUSTA - Mary Bolduc Bangs, 101, of Waterville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Oct. 31, 2017, at the Maine Veteran's Home in Augusta.
She was born July 28, 1916, in New Bedford, Mass. She married her wonderful husband of more than 40 years (Pa) Albert S. Bangs, Sr., and worked at Keyes Fiber for over 25 years until her retirement.
Her family was very important to her, with Thanksgiving and Christmas family gatherings meaning the world to her. She loved cooking and made the best fried chicken around. She also loved singing, dancing, playing the harmonica, playing the spoons and yodeling, while also entertaining her children, grandchildren and caring for her dog Tiny and bird Corky. She was fondly referred to as "Nana Banana" by her grandchildren and her laugh was very contagious. Her grandchildren aspired to be taller than her one day and hoped that they didn't need the special gas pedal block that Pa had made for her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert S. Bangs, Sr., her son, Albert S. Bangs, Jr., her daughter, Nancy Mower, her son-in-law Al Dunton, her sister Vi Collins, her brother-in-law, Tom Collins, her brother, Omer Bolduc, her sister-in-law, Erica Bolduc, her granddaughter, Darlene Dunton Benedict, and her great-great granddaughter, Cambree Dunton.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Dan Berard Sr., her daughter-in-law Jane Marley and her significant other Roger Carter; her grandchildren Dan Berard Jr. and his wife Jenni, Cristal Berard Southwick and her husband William, Terri Bangs Newell, Tracey Bangs Stevens and her husband Jacob, Ronald Dunton and his wife Donna, and Matt Benedict; her great-grandchildren Danielle Berard, Jacob Berard, Cierra Dorval, Mallory Lawn, Conlan Southwick, Talia Southwick, Jeramie Jamison, Devin Folsom, Tesla Newell, Kaela Poulin, Kelsey Stevens, Kevin Dunton, and Shawn Dunton; her great-great grandchildren Jayce, Maddex, Brooklynn, Connor, Mason, Griffin, Pierson, Draven, McKenzi, and Landri.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all the staff at Maine Veteran's Home, who lovingly cared for our Nana for many years.
A graveside service will be Friday, Nov. 10 at 12 noon at the Sawtelle Cemetery in Sidney. Following the graveside service, there will be a celebration of life gathering at the home of Dan and Mary Berard on 537 Webb Road, Oakland, at 1 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives in Augusta Maine.
