Lois Tracy
1932 - 2017
WATERVILLE - Lois Tracy passed away at Lakewood Manor in Waterville on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, after a short illness. Lois was born on Feb. 28, 1932, to Edith and Earl Webber in Freedom. She married and moved to Connecticut, but always longed to return to Maine which she did in 1973.
She was a born caregiver. She went to school to be a CNA and worked for 25 years at Lakewood Manor. She then worked as a private duty caregiver for many years in the Waterville area and, for a brief time, in Florida.
Once she retired from CNA work she continued to help others. She was invaluable in helping to raise her grandchildren, Rachel and Dylan Small. When she moved to senior housing in Waterville, she was the person other residents could rely on for a trip to the grocery store or a doctor's appointment or even just collecting the newspaper.
Lois will be missed by her family, son Raymond Bernard and wife Julie of Plantsville, Conn., son Ron Bernard and wife Catherine of Fairfield, daughter Cheryl Small and life partner Dan Cummings of Augusta; grandchildren Sarah Bernard, Danielle Bernard, Benjamin Bernard, Rachel Small, Dylan Small; and great-grandchildren Cherrilyn and Vincent. She will also be missed by her special niece Donna Wade.
Lois's family would like to thank Lakewood Manor for the many years of excellent care they provided to her and for the special attention at the end of her life.
There will be no visiting hours or service. A remembrance celebration is planned for a future date.
