Lillian M. Ballard
1920 - 2017
MANCHESTER - Lillian M. Ballard, 97, of Manchester, peacefully passed away Dec. 24, 2017. She was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Augusta, the daughter of Chester and Mary Cameron.
Lillian lived a rich and full life. She ran a farm in Manchester with her husband Ken for more than 20 years, she later worked 20 plus years at WT Grant and Kmart. In her long and fruitful retirement, she assisted her many friends, running errands and often "gallivanting" about the state of Maine enjoying Sunday destinations. She loved gardening, picking strawberries, and making goodies for friends and family. Lillian was especially proud of her two loving and successful children, and her six grandsons and their families, including 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was blessed with the good fortune of being a grandmother for over 54 years and will always be remembered as a loving "Nana" and the hub of the extended Ballard and Anderson families. She wouldn't have had it any other way.
She was predeceased by her parents Chester and Mary Cameron; her husband Kenneth Ballard Sr., brothers Roy and Sperry Cameron, sister Arlene Minoty; and son-in-law Thomas Anderson.
She is survived by her son Ken Ballard Jr. and wife Carol of Manchester, daughter Martha Anderson of Smithtown, N.Y.; sister Dorothy Shaw of Augusta; many nieces and nephews; and six grandsons and their spouses, Jeff and Julie Ballard of Canandaigua, N.Y., Mike and Jennie Anderson of Evergreen, Colo., Todd Ballard of Manchester, Ken and Jeanne Anderson of Stony Brook, N.Y., Jason and Heidi Ballard of Readfield, and Joe and Lisa Anderson of East Northport, N.Y.
Visiting hours will be Friday Jan. 12, from 2-4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St, Augusta. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Manchester Community Church, 21 Readfield Rd, Manchester.
