Joseph N. Armand Dutil
1935 - 2015
WINSLOW - Joseph N. Armand Dutil, 80, passed away early on Oct. 29, 2015, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. Armand, as he was known by, was born on Aug. 16, 1935, in Waterville, the son of Leroy and Simonne (Jacque) Dutil. Armand was a graduate of Winslow High School. He belonged on the high school track and field, wrestling, and football team.
He had been a millworker for Keyes Fibre Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejune.
Armand coached and referred Little League baseball and Midget football for many years. He also referred high school football and baseball for 31 years. He was a member of the Bourque-Lanigan Post 5 American Legion for 33 years and of the Waterville Lodge of Elks for 39 years. Armand loved the ocean, camping, golfing, gardening and was a New York Giants fan.
Armand is survived by his wife, Darlene Dutil; and his dog, Molly of Winslow; children, Dorothy Currier of Winslow, David Dutil Sr., of Waterville and Benjamin Dutil and wife Betty of Ashland; grandchildren, Joshua, Brandon, Samantha and husband Nick, Asa, David Jr., Jade, Nichole and Sydnie; stepchildren, Karrie Hibbard and husband William of Madison, Ryan Hayden and wife Michelle of Manchester, N.H.; step-grandchildren, Terri, Christopher and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Kendell, Allysa, Madison, Michael and Taylor; and by many nieces and nephews. Armand was predeceased by his parents, Leroy and Simonne Dutil; daughter, Pamela, stepson, Tracy Roderick; a grandson, Justin Currier; and by a sister, Theresa Dechaine and husband Alton.
There will be no hours of visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove St., Waterville. An online guest book may be signed and condolences expressed at
